Ok Here's my top 5 highlights from the BDO, not all are necessarily good things though. :D
1. Stevie C executing a top class flying front kick to the head of Leigh in the finale on Rollerskates set. A kick Jackie Chan would've been proud of.
2. Mike Patton Spitting out of the side of his mouth at the end of Tomahawks set and landing directly on the back of the female security officer in front of me.
3. Shirley Manson being a softcock and getting an umbrella to sing under for half Garbage's set because the sun was too bright for her. ::)
4. Mike Patton flashing his sausage for all to see.
5. Some old 50ish geeky lawyer type moshing in new order with his soft white underbelly bobbing up and down. Yuck. :-X
Well that's mine, what else did i miss around the place?

the entire machine gun fellatio set was a highlight! especially the bit where the dancing chick was getting all hot and heavy using those feathery things on pinky beecroft *drools*. and the mosh pit sperm, of course.
a bad highlight was all the food and drink stands running out of water and there being very, very little available in close proximity to the boiler room. not good.

Other high points:
The Tomahawk set was so much fun. I was standing on the side of the stage nect to the singer from Amen. In the set he repeatedly hits himself in the head with the mic. Up close his forehead has a big fucked up divet in it with all this crusty blood and shit everywhere. Pretty intense. As was their set too. My biggest highlight was Amen making Superheist look like the $50,000 sold-out Pepsi bitches that they are. Who's buying their album? Why are they popular? God only knows...
The JBT played a beautiful set full of improv and passion - loving it!
Silverchair proved that they are a very mature band with long term talent and intentions.
The Prodigy...Well...I got the POISON, I got the REMEDY!!!

I think my BDO highlight was Karnivool.
Excuse the ignorance, but I must admit I'd only ever heard them on disc, but after seeing yesterdays sincere show of passion, emotion and intensity despite the yucky heat, I was truely blown away. Massive respect to those guys for keeping it real, inviting bro's up on stage.. fellow perthies. Love it.
Jurassic 5 were always going to be perfect in my books, and they didn't disappoint.. i'm sure the Rollerskates guys (all representin' side of stage) would agree eh! & also hats off to John Butler Trio who were great.. defining musicians.
Hope all that attended had fun.. keep it rockin'.

it's good when a hyped band actually has some substance - the white stripes were plenty solid. jack mightn't be precision-master but he sure has the garage chops. meg is the cutest girl i've seen since who knows when. there was a bunch of kids dressed in red and white, too.
tomahawk exceeded my expectations. i've spent my evening so far re-listening to mike patton related projects.
the monarchs weren't bad at all, even though it was exactly the same set (complete with co-ordinated knee drops in a sonic's rendezvous band cover) they did the night before. but soon enough all this ironic (it's nice to think it's irony a decade and a half after spinal tap) retro rock'n'roll posturing will wear thin. oh well, at least it's the kind of rock'n'roll posturing i like (as opposed to nu-metal monkey mania). sadly, no fun things covers were played.
the definite highlight was the surprisingly short beer queue - albeit at 4 bucks a pop. the definite lowlight was garbage. i don't get it. i mean, i know they're the favourites of every arts student who has opened a derrida text and realised that shirley manson is playing interlektuarl - but crikey, the music is just over-processed fm pop, and no amount of analysis can negate that fact. and to think butch vig produced killdozer albums...

1 jurassic mo muthafukn 5 the rest are listed lower cos there really wasn't much else to write home about
2 heap a new downsyde stuff + matty b and hunters set 3 cool security for once 4 reasonable drink lines 5 the fact that i didn't take one step inside the boiler room all day
now lowlights 1 the lillypad 2 relizing that the majority of people who attend shit like this still think hip hop is either a joke or a fad (much like the crew at the lillypad) 3 tommohawk, my god what a disapointment! and they sounded so good till patton opened his gob, duane dennison going off on the bass and all. but seriously, mike patton seems to be losing it (just an opinion, don't condem me) 4 EB? you mean thats the only fucking beer i can buy? 5 not seeing most of the crew i normally run into at events like this
this years big day out left a very sour taste in the mouth. i enjoyed the few bands that i actually watched but overall the it was a pretty bad day. i really hope they don't bring any deccent bands over next year so i don't have to be a part of it at all, plus festival crowds are just too much for me.
anyway i hope everyone else had a better day than i did nevar

well what could i do? i got all choked up and i threw down my gun and i called him my pa and he called me his son and i walked away with a diffrent point of view |

Yes, the White Stripes did indeed kick ass.
Pre BDO highlight - Saturday night at the Grosvenor, the Garbage boys and their roadies cranking out the 70's covers and Butch Vig singing Whole lotta Love on his knees.

Nevar, one must wonder why you went in the first place, but thats no problem of mine. the fact that the variety of beer and the lack of "crew" that are normally there were such big issues for you, clearly displays your love of all things musical, which is truly to be admired! and for the record, i thought mike patton was rad. its pretty easy to bag people when you're the guy behind the railings.

pre-bdo meeting the gorgeous meg white in perth and her frenz..
positives-bdo front and centre of new order, finally after a decade of lust, gerlings ever impressive funfilled set with vocoder and all, the white stripes playing a variety of their beautiful songs from all three albums.. plenty of shade and that everything was nicely spread out. lack of crowd surfers,
lows-bdo the hideously long walk to get into the main stage, fences and all when theres no need at the time, selwyn??, water running out,
