That was the single best set i have seen from JW in aaaages. It rocked harder than the proverbial quarry. Unfortunately, the influx of clueless types forced me to flee the Jebediah set and seek refuge in the cool night air. What did everyone else think?

hey magz, have you got a full list of last night's winners you can post? i was actually at the dinner but i can't remember all of em thanks to the complimetary red wine. ;D

grosvenor won the venue award which was good to see as i think nigel has worked really hard to turn that place around over the past year and deserved the recognition.

I agree dueceman, JW ruled. Unfortunately I had the delusion that I might actually be able to see Jebediah, or at least listen in some kind of comfort, if I just got close enough up front. I had a glimpse of the singer's head for a while but then I got sick of being pushed around...I totally didn't expect them to play Just For The Weekend or Bosco...made a good soundtrack for sitting around outside.

i actually cant believe that the Grosvenor won that award.. as great a job as Nigel has been doing.. that place just feels.. and looks.. claustraphobic.. i cant stand going to a gig there anymore.. it was great once but those days are long gone! obviously im part of the minority on that thought though..
im just glad that amplifier didnt win because as great as the sound and lighting is going to see a gig there from 8 till 1 is just pure torture..
i enjoy the hydey gigs these days.. maybe im just getting old :)

yay to perthbands though!

Yeah the Hydey's my favourite too but somehow I doubt the "industry" as a whole takes it seriously enough to give it an award. The Amplifier's good in summer but while the beer garden's closed it's not the kind of place I want to be for more than a couple of hours.

i love the amplifier so much, but for a really great vibe nothing beats the grosvenor. filling a room at the grosvenor just creates such a wicked feeling. take last night for example. woohoo!

oh yeah i'm sure it was a great gig, but i was told by a late arrival at the Raff's, that it was busting and oozing out the sides.

apparantly punters who wanted to enter had to wait for punters to exit as they pushed max capacity.

so what's the max persons capacity at the amps? inc the beer garden?

how shit. i would have cried or killed someone if i couldn't get in.
